As we reach the midpoint of our series on Green Politics, we are joined by two sustainability consultants: Adam Ellis and Peter Westbury. Adam’s work focuses on incorporating climate consciousness into F1 and racing while Peter’s work looks to help account for, and measure, carbon output from organisations.
Their current work builds on their university research: whether biodiversity is enough of a priority, and how carbon credits functions as a viable policy with which to tackle climate change. Between these two perspectives of more easily measurable – and therefore communicable – carbon changes and the qualitatively impactful role of biodiversity, our conversation starts by looking at the priorities in current policy.
The discussion then steers towards larger questions: is climate change an issue of capitalism, and should its solutions be found in markets or states?
As the topics range from carbon credits to bat tunnels to wooden toothbrushes, Adam and Peter end our panel by agreeing to 3 C’s for Change: Community, Collaboration, and Culture. In all of these, individuals have the power to make change.
Be sure to follow the work of both Adam and Peter, and tune into the podcast here.
