This year’s COP summit faces one of the lowest attendance rates in recent years and has made headlines for protests led by indigenous Brazilians. In this podcast, we talk to Ekaterina Dimitrova – a certified Youth Climate Ambassador who has attended multiple COPs in the UK, Azerbaijan, and the United Arab Emirates.
In this conversation, we discuss her Bulgarian background and her perspective from studying in the UK – and how climate priorities vary across European countries. We also dive into her role in working at the UK’s first COP summit, COP26, and her thoughts on the elitism of such conferences.
We round out our conversation looking to what young people can gain and learn from such events, and how they might be more restrictive than inclusive.
